Brief Biography:

I was born and raised in a small village in northern România, where I spent much of my childhood exploring the outdoors and helping my grandparents work the fields, harvest grapes, and care for farm animals. Growing up in a rural community instilled in me the values of honesty, perseverance, hard work, and curiosity—values that have continued to guide my personal and scientific journey.

In sixth grade, I began studying French, Russian, and Latin. A year later, I discovered mathematics and became fascinated by its beauty, structure, and logical elegance. This passion led me to enroll in a mathematics and physics high school, and by ninth grade I knew that physics would become my lifelong pursuit.

I earned my bachelor's degree in theoretical physics from the Department of Physics at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iaşi, România, where I studied gravitation, particle physics, and field theory. Driven by a desire to pursue scientific research at an international level, I taught myself English and was admitted to the University of Florida, where I earned a Ph.D. in experimental condensed matter physics.

Following my doctoral studies, I held research positions at the University of Maryland, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (UC Berkeley), UCLA, and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (Stanford University). Throughout my career, my research has focused on quantum materials—including high-temperature superconductors, topological materials, low-dimensional quantum magnets, and heavy-fermion systems—with an emphasis on the synthesis of high-quality single crystals, advanced materials characterization, and the investigation of emergent electronic phenomena. My work has involved the development of new materials, the exploration of novel quantum states of matter, and collaborations with researchers across leading institutions worldwide.

Looking back, I remain deeply grateful for the journey from a small România village to conducting research at some of the world's leading scientific institutions. That journey has shaped my scientific curiosity, resilience, and commitment to understanding the fundamental properties of quantum matter.

I am currently seeking a faculty position where I can establish an independent research program in quantum materials, mentor and inspire students, develop collaborative research directions, and contribute to the teaching and research mission of a research university.
